Svampar som man lätt förväxlar och tror är trattkantareller:
- The orange trumpet mushrooms with no clear ridges and it is more wrinkled under my hat.
- Slemmurkling which is inedible, jelly-like fungus which lacks ridges.
- Gullnavlingen very reminiscent of funnel chanterelle but it grows on rotten wood and has sparse waxy discs.
- The gray edible chanterelle reminiscent of funnel chanterelle but it is black and gray and grows with oak.

picked with a peaked giftspindling when they were looking for funnel chanterelles.
The conical giftspindlingen (which is deadly poisonous) growing in a similar environment as funnel chanterelle,
but the appearance is so different, so that it can only confuse the two species through sheer carelessness.
